1. Uptown Charlotte

There are truly a gazillion spots uptown for amazing photo ops. A few are listed below, but honestly… the full list is so long I’d have to write a whole guide just to fit them all in.

The beauty of uptown Charlotte is that every corner, every alleyway, every skyline view brings something different to your session—and I love helping couples find the perfect backdrop for their style and personality.

2. Freedom Park

Freedom Park is one of the most popular spots in Charlotte for engagement photos— and for good reason. It has a little bit of everything: a beautiful pond, charming bridges, winding paths, and countless scenic corners perfect for capturing those romantic moments.

It’s truly a timeless location that never disappoints.

3. Duke Mansion

This Southern estate is romance at its finest—inside and out. From the classic black-and-white tile floors to the sparkling crystal chandeliers and the beautifully manicured gardens, every corner offers a stunning backdrop for engagement photos.

Just keep in mind that the venue does require a fee for photography,

but the setting is absolutely worth it.

4. Marshall Park

Even though this charming little park sits right out in the open, it still feels like a hidden gem. It’s typically much quieter than other popular spots, meaning you’ll likely have the space all to yourselves.

And the best part? It offers a beautiful view of the Charlotte skyline—perfect for creating stunning, memorable engagement photos.

5. Independence Park

This spot offers plenty of beautiful trees and is usually much quieter than other parks, making it an ideal location for relaxed, uninterrupted photo sessions.

6. McGill Rose Garden

If you love roses, this is the perfect spot! It’s a charming little garden right in the heart of the city. Sessions during regular hours are free, and if you’d like the entire garden to yourselves after hours, they offer a private-access option for a small fee.

7. Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden

DSBG is technically located in Belmont, NC, but it’s just a quick hop from Charlotte—so of course it had to make the list. The gardens are beautifully maintained year-round, and the Orchid Conservatory is absolutely breathtaking. With endless photo opportunities throughout the property, you could honestly spend an entire week shooting here and still discover new spots.

8. Wing Haven

Wing Haven does charge a small fee, but it is absolutely worth it. It’s another hidden gem that many people don’t even know exists, which makes it perfect for a peaceful, intimate engagement session.

9. Southend

This heart wall is a popular South End photo spot, but there is so much more in the area that can create truly stunning images.Take a little walkabout and maybe even stop at Jeni’s Icecream for a break and a little photo sesh.

10. NoDa

Noda is great if you want your session to have an artsy urban vibe.

11. First Ward Park

A quaint park that is not too busy and sweet for photos.

12. The Green Uptown

The green is a popular choice for photos and has lots of walkable photos opts.

Lake Norman is huge and has so many great locations for engagement shoots.

One of my favorites is the skyline view of Charlotte. Late in the evening the lights of Charlotte light up.
